Research: Molecular Genetics of Complex Human Diseases
Our group is involved in disease gene mapping of genes involved in susceptibility to the inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) as well as haemochromatosis, malignant hyperthermia, the aminoacidurias and myopia. We are physically situated at the Research School of Biological Sciences and have strong national and international links with a number of groups around world working on the molecular basis of inheritance of complex diseases. We also have a large project known as the Aussie Normals, a collaboration between groups at the ANU and the Canberra Hospital to investigate the relationship between genotype and phenotype in health and disease.
