Genetics Course Planner
Whilst students might be keen to select their majors early on in their degree, we encourage students to wait until the end of their first year. At the beginning of their first year many students do not know what majors they want to take. And even if a student does know what majors they want to take they often change their minds during their first year because they develop new interests as they are exposed to a wide range of ideas. Therefore, it is a good idea to study a broad range of courses in your first year to keep as many options open as possible. After your first year if you are keen to continuing with genetics you have the option of taking either a single major or double major in genetics. Major in GeneticsA major in Genetics must include a minimum of 42 units from the following set of courses:
Other requirements: All students are encouraged to take at least one Chemistry course. Students taking later year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology courses must complete both first year Chemistry courses, CHEM1101 and CHEM1102.
Double Major in Genetics
Other requirements: All students are encouraged to take at least one Chemistry course. Students taking later year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology courses must complete both first year Chemistry courses, CHEM1101 and CHEM1102.
